How to Sync your Data between the App and the Web

Updated over a week ago

Feature Video : Data Sync Between Web and Multiple Devices

Required to Sync

You are required to have a current subscription to sync with the Web Dashboard. You will be able to upload your data to and from the app and the web dashboard. The sync is automatic on most cases but there may be a need to manually sync if the app is closed or if you are in poor signal.

If you are unable to sync or get an error you will need to contact your admin or verify that your account is Active and have the App User permission. You will be able to sync your data and have it automatically update the web.

What gets synced?

If you have any incremental changes on the app or the web the automatic sync will merge the changes this will keep the data usage low. There is an automatic sync that attempts overnight and is a good reason to keep the app open in the background as the web dashboard serves as a secondary cloud backup. When you perform a manual sync it will try to Merge all the data so the sync may take longer depending on how much data you have on the device.

How to Sync Data

Quick Qync

You can always do a quick sync if you make any changes to the app or web and want to see the changes quickly reflected. Simple pull down on the details area of the Trips or Transactions page. The Quick Sync is always a Merge Data Sync

If for some reason the app is not updating with the full sync or the app is no longer automatically syncing your data you can run through a Full Sync. Follow the steps below and be sure to leave the app open in the background and open it regularly to ensure the app is open to automatically sync.

Troubleshooting

Error Messages

Sync Timed Out

If you attempt to sync too many times there might be an error message that there is a time out for too may attempts. You will need to wait the 5 minutes for each attempt after the initial error so please wait the time and attempt the sync at a later time. If you are receiving the error repeatedly you may need to move to a location with better connection or try a different internet connection. The sync is determined by the amount of data that needs to be transferred. If there is more than it may take longer to complete.
