TripLog App Customization

How To Make TripLog Work for You

Updated over a week ago

Customization

Your driving style is uniquely your own. That is why TripLog offers ways to customize your tracking to better suit your needs and requirements. We will have a brief walkthrough of some settings but feel free to review related articles on the specific feature you are interested in.

AutoStart Selection and Set up

With the TripLog Mobile app you are able to select a variety of Tracking options from Fully Automatic Magic Trip to Manually Starting and stopping your trip with full control.

You can select your automatic tracking option under TripLog app > Main Menu > Auto Start on.

Additional Settings

Responsiveness – This only applies to the MagicTrip™. You can choose the app to run GPS more often, thus being more responsive and accurate (but it will use more battery), or less responsive, resulting in less battery use. In general, these settings generate similar results.

Speed Threshold – This setting determines the speed at which you must be going in order to trigger TripLog to start recording your trip. The default is 5 mph or 8 km/h.

Timeout - Stop Trip After Idle for - To conserve battery with MagicTrip, TripLog automatically stops trips when it sees that you have not moved for a duration of time (i.e., the length of your Timeout setting). This setting helps drivers who are often in heavy traffic or make frequent stops and want the app to record the stop-and-go pattern as one continuous trip. The default setting is 5 minutes. This period is at the end of the trip. There is an additional 3 minutes after this window applied to all trips to validate another trip is not starting.

Trip Start Detection Window - To also conserve battery triggered events like a device plugged in or vehicle power on for autostart used by TripLog Drive, TripLog Beacon, Car Bluetooth and Plug-n-Go offer an initial trigger window that the autostart registers power on and then waits for movement. If the app does not detect movement it stops monitoring until the connection is reset or connected again. You will want to extend this to longer than the initial connection (ie turning the vehicle on) and the time you start to drive. The default setting is 15 minutes. Longer is better unless you are having issues with battery drain.

Localization and Customization

Country - This is the primary setting for most of the defaults and availble features will be turned on. Ensure that you have your correct country to align with the settings that go with your mileage recording requirements.

Date Format - Default is the country format but can be configured. Note that changing this template may have unintended issues with spreadsheet views if you have a date conversion in the spreadsheet when using the CSV reports. Contact support if you have issues with this.

Units of Measure - You can change metrics, such as miles to kilometers, by going to the Menu > Locale > Units of Measure . Other metrics such as currency and tiered mileage rates can also be changed in the general settings.

Appearance and Notifications

Light Mode / Dark Mode / System - the settings for the app are available to configure with Light Mode, Dark Mode or follow the systems settings.

Notifications

You can choose in the app for the notifications that you receive about mileage reminders. This will allow you to have regular updates on the state of the app and the mileage being tracked. While you can customize this it is recommended to use the defaults to keep in touch with the health of the app and the automated tracking.
