AutoStart Settings

By default, Magic Trip is selected in the app for Automated Mileage Tracking, though this may vary based on your administrator's settings. If you have the option to choose, refer to the Compare AutoStart Options article to determine what works best for you. Please note that even if you select choose manual tracking or disable the autostart, all relevant permissions are still required.

AutoStart Quick Comparison

MagicTrip monitors your speed in the background and kicks in as 1-2 minutes of driving and shuts off after you have been idle for 5 minutes.

The TripLog Drive is a dedicated mileage-tracking device built specifically for solving issues with iOS and Android stopping background running apps. The built-in GPS saves your phone battery and data. Classify trips with a physical button/indicator. Perfect for serious drivers and those concerned about privacy, security, and reliability.

The TripLog Beacon is a Bluetooth Nearby technology that is developed by Apple for close-range detection. Simply insert one into your car’s USB port. Mileage tracking will start upon detection of your TripLog Beacon and stop when you leave your car.

Car Bluetooth uses your existing Bluetooth connection in your car to start and stop tracking. Mileage tracking starts after you drive over 5 mph while connected to your car’s Bluetooth. Your trip automatically stops when you get out of the car and disconnect from Bluetooth.

Gig Apps (Android)

Designed for Gig Economy drivers working in Rideshare, grocery, food, and package delivery. When one of the selected Gig Apps is open and it will trigger the MagicTrip autostart, you start driving, the app will automatically start tracking. After you are idle for more than 5 minutes, the trip will be stopped.

Plug-n-Go

Mileage tracking starts when you plug your phone into your car charger and go over 5 mph. Unplug to stop the trip.

Manual Tracking

Manually start and stop your trips within the app or using its widgets.

Setting Business Hours

Setting the default Business Hours will determine the default Business Activity that the app will assign to the trip based on when it starts. During Business Hours, within the selected days and the timeframes it will default to the Business Hours Activity Setting. Trips that begin outside of those selected days and hours will use the After Hours activity. The After Hours activity does include a Do Not Record option to disable automatic tracking during those hours. (Note if a trip starts within the Business hours it will continue to track until it automatically stops.

Data Sync: How To Sync Data to the Web

The TripLog Mobile App has an automatic data synchronization that happens throughout the use of the app. It should update to the cloud as well as create incremental daily backups of the app as it is opened and used. It is recommended to leave the app running so it can perform and full data sync overnight. If the app has not automatically synced your data when you log in you may need to manually sync your data to the cloud. In order to properly receive updates and settings in TripLog it’s important to complete a Full Merge Data sync. You can quickly pull down on the Trips and Expense page to complete a partial sync but if you are not seeing changes use the following steps.

Manual Sync : TripLog App > Main Menu ( ≡ three line icon ) > Your Plan (Click on the Email) > Data Backup > Sync Between Device and Cloud > Merge Data
