Auto Tracking with MagicTrip™
With MagicTrip, the app automatically detects your device's movement and starts and stops tracking. You can leave the phone in your pocket and trips will be auto-magically tracked!
There are some important things to keep in mind when using MagicTrip:
Good GPS reception is the key to accurate and fast movement detection. GPS will take a longer time to locate you when the phone does not have a clear view of the sky or the car is moving. You can set MagicTrip to More Responsive in auto start settings to run GPS more frequently.
Trips will be automatically started when the device has been moving at 4 mph on average for 1 - 2 minutes. For the trip start (from) address, it will backtrack and use the original starting point.
Trips will be automatically stopped when there's no movement for 5 minutes (configurable).
You can customize MagicTrip response time, speed threshold, and timeout in menu > Settings > Auto Tracking Settings.
You can manually stop the trip by opening the TripLog main screen and tapping the "Stop Trip" button.
From the TripLog 2x2 widget, you can change trip activity or adjust odometer reading during or after the trip.
The app will stop running GPS completely after idle for 5 minutes in order to save battery. The MagicTrip option runs GPS less frequently than the other auto start options during the trip.
There could be a discrepancy of one or two miles/km due to precision limitations. If you want more accuracy, please set to your MagicTrip's responsiveness to "More responsive, more battery use" option.
MagicTrip™ troubleshooting for iOS
There are a few things to check if MagicTrip™ doesn't seem to work.
Open iOS System Settings > Privacy > Location Services > TripLog > make sure it is set to 'Always'.
Do NOT force close the app process. You could do that by swiping up (or double-clicking the iPhone Home button on older devices) and swiping the TripLog window up and out of the screen. When closed, TripLog won't be able to track mileage.
No app can automatically start itself after the iOS device is rebooted. Therefore, please open the TripLog app after rebooting your device, go to your home screen, and TripLog will stay on in the background.
If MagicTrip is slow to respond or sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't, please set the responsiveness to 'More Responsive' in the Auto Tracking Settings.
MagicTrip™ Troubleshooting for Android:
There are a few things to check if MagicTrip doesn't seem to work.
Open Android Settings > Location > Mode > make sure it is set to 'High Accuracy'.
On Android 6 or above, open Android Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Permissions > Location > ON.
Make sure the phone is not put in Battery Saver mode. Or you can opt-out of battery-saving just for TripLog. It's at Android Settings > Battery > menu > Battery optimization > Not optimized > select All apps > find TripLog > set to "Don't optimize" > Done.
Rebooting the device sometimes does the trick.
Please also add the TripLog widget (2x2 size preferred) to your Android home screen to monitor the tracking status.
